چکیده

Abstract Landslide-induced tsunamis may cause fatalities, damages and financial losses. In the Three Gorges Reservoir Area of China, several large landslides are still unstable persistently creeping toward Yangtze River. this paper, we investigate impacts landslide-induced in by using a hybrid numerical approach. One largest mass area, Huangtupo landslide, is chosen as study object. First, landslide deformation initiating velocities obtained finite-discrete element method. The their on shipping River then investigated through smooth particle hydrodynamics modelling. Our results reveal that an approximately 80% reduction shear strength tip will lead to catastrophic failure with sliding up 8 m/s. Subsequently, such collapse initiate river tsunami, propagating 9 m nearby reservoir banks within 3 km. surrounding floating objects, surges sways, heaves rolls, 110 m, 6°, respectively. simulations indicate although likelihood whole low, partial poses severe threat Thus, recommend continuous monitoring well early warning systems at also other hazardous sites area.

Malaria transmission potential in the Three Gorges Reservoir of the Yangtze River, China.

OBJECTIVE To define and evaluate the malaria transmission potential in the Yangtze River, following construction of the Three Gorges Reservoir. METHODS Six villages, namely, Kaixian, Fengjie, Wanzhou, Fuling, Yubei, and Zigui were selected for investigating the malaria transmission potential in the reservoir. Transmission potential was estimated by mathematical modeling and evaluation of the ...

Landslide Susceptibility Mapping Using GIS-based Vector Grid File (VGF) Validating with InSAR Techniques: Three Gorges, Yangtze River (China)

A landslide susceptibility assessment for the Three Gorges (TG) region (China) was performed in a Geographical Information System (GIS) environment and Persistent Scatterer (PS) InSAR derived displacements were used for validation purposes. Badong County of TG was chosen as case study field. Landslide parameters were derived from two datasets. The Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflec...

Environmental archaeology of the Dachang region in the Daning Valley, the Three Gorges reservoir region of the Yangtze River, China

Environmental archaeology of archaeological sites on both sides of the Dachang section in the Daning River, the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River, shows that riverbed evolution has a great influence on the distribution of archaeological sites during the prehistorical and historical period, and it restricts human activity and the development of ancient culture. Field investigation, dating data, ...

Assessment of Hydrologic Alterations Caused by the Three Gorges Dam in the Middle and Lower Reaches of Yangtze River, China

Hydrologic regime plays a major role in structuring biotic diversity within river ecosystems by controlling key habitat conditions within the river channel and floodplain. Daily flow records from seven hydrological stations and the range of variability approach were utilized to investigate the variability and spatial pattern of the hydrologic alterations induced by the construction of the Three...
